How You Know It’s Time

I’m not sure if you can relate, but for about 28+ years, I did jobs I didn’t really like to please people I liked less, all chasing money and society’s expectations.

Then one day, sticking in there didn’t make sense anymore. My 51-year-old husband died in front of his office at work. Those months following that, I’d be sitting in my office, wearing clothes I hated, into my fourth coffee of the morning, interrupted again by another call or staffer, thinking that there had to be more in life than this.

The final moment? It was COVID times, and everyone was working from home except me. I was literally managing my staff of 22 via video calls the entire day from my office in an empty building and requested to do these from home, as everyone else was. My request was denied in a spectacular way, with more corporate doublespeak about my commitment and my loyalty, and gaslighting me into believing that my request was completely irrational. My parents were immigrants, and we didn’t come from money, so I was raised to believe loyalty and commitment were everything, but in that moment, I also realized life is short, and I was letting someone else own mine.

I started my plan that day to retire INTO the life I wanted instead of sticking in this unfulfilling life I was in.

I was 54 at the time. I had savings and got some more from my husband’s death, but I was not yet financially free. I actually had no idea at that time what I had, financially. Then, as I asked myself the questions of what I want, I didn’t know that either. Can you relate?

That’s when I created Retire INTO Your Life. Discovering who you are, what you want, and how to get there. At the time, it was just for me.

See, I am a sucker for surveys, and quizzes and checklists, and journaling. I needed to give myself prompts and questions and examples to ponder and see if that worked for me. I like to feel things out for a bit and see if I’m down to the authentic thoughts or just my lifetime of societal programming. These worksheets helped me learn about myself and have a bit of fun. The workbook has ways to help figure out my four main selves: emotional me, spiritual me, physical me, and financial me. The keys to understanding and enjoying freedom.

I’m confident you can do this. I can save you at least 100+ hours searching the internet and reading books if you follow my strategies and take action. And, unlike other retirement books written by men, for men, this one is specifically written for Generation X women! At the end, you’ll not only have a plan to retire INTO the life you want but also confidence that the plan you have is authentically you.

Here’s to answering to no one but yourself.
